Nancy "Nanny" Smith-Parnell

Nancy Helen Smith-Parnell, age 98 of Belton, died Monday, July 19, 2021, in a Temple nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday, July 23, 2021 at Salado United Methodist Church.

Nancy was born December 2, 1922 to Alfred and Mabel Smith of Jarrell, Texas. She graduated from Salado High School in 1940. She married Fred G. Parnell in 1942 in Belton. She worked at the VA Hospital in Temple from 1952-1983 and then Scott & White Hospital from 1984-2004.

Nancy is preceded in death by her sister, Pam Burke of Irving; and one grandson.

She is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Bussell of Belton; two brothers, Nick Smith of Fort Worth, and Alfred “Bud” Smith of Belton; three grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
