A time of visitation and fellowship with the family and friends of Al W. McClellan, 85, of Belton will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in the chapel of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. He passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at a local hospital.
Al was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on June 15, 1931 to the late Neole and Mary McClellan. He graduated from high school in May 1947 and joined the US Air Force in June of 1947. He served 20 years with the US Air Force and reached the rank of staff sergeant before his retirement. He received letters of recognition from President Johnson for his service at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. He also received Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with 3 stars, United Nations Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal with Asia Clasp. After his retirement from the military he worked for the Temple and Killeen Post Offices for more than 20 years before his second retirement.
He married Myrtle Joyce Hamilton in Houston on December 21, 1958. Al was a loving husband and beloved father.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Joyce McClellan; 2 sons, Michael Wayne McClellan and Brandon Alan McClellan; a daughter, Molly Catherine McClellan.
In honor of Al and his love of animals the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Bell County Veterinary Hospital at 1005 E. 6th Ave, Belton, Texas 76513.
