Alene Cochran

Alene Stark Cochran, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2014 in a local nursing home. She was predeceased by her husband Tom Wallis Cochran.
Alene was born in May, Texas on August 1, 1917 to William Charles and Vianna Gaines Stark. She was predeceased by two brothers Carlysle Gaines Stark and Billy Gayle Stark.
In 1948 Alene opened Alenes Beauty Shop in Temple. For many years, she was considered to be a leader in her field and won numerous awards in hair styling competitions. She retired her business in 1984, disappointing many loyal and longtime customers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belton.
Alene was a funloving person who enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family and many friends. She is survived by a daughter Dr. Verlene Cochran Cabaniss and her husband Jerry of Val Verde, a son Tom Walton Cochran and his wife Sherry of Belton, three grandsons, and five greatgrandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at North Belton Cemetery with Reverend Darren Walker officiating. Pallbearers are Don Wallis Bankston, T. W. Cochran, Joe Cochran, Keith Cabaniss, Richard Bridges, and Andy Hardeman.
