SSgt, Aubrey James Hill, U.S. Marines (Ret), age 75, of Moody, TX passed away peacefully at William R. Courtney Veterans Home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
"Sonny" as most would call Aubrey was born on July 31, 1940, in Heidenheimer, TX to Rupert and Myrtle Hill. Sonny moved to Temple, TX as a young child and attended Temple schools.
He was a retired Marine veteran, serving 21 years with 2 tours in the Vietnam War. His primary focus in the Marines was an auto mechanic and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon retiring from the U.S. Marines, he relocated to Belton, TX, owned and operated a convenient store and auto repair center for 11 years. Sonny then drove as a long haul truck driver for McGuire Transportation of Belton, TX for 9 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Mieko S. Hill of Moody, TX; daughter, Miyuki Hill Newhall and husband Robert E. Newhall of Cupertino, CA; sister, Barbara Robinson and husband Edmund of Indiana; sister, Dinah Young and husband John of Indiana; brother, Marcus Hill of Belton, TX; and two grandchildren, Samantha N. Vaughan of Round Rock, TX and Andrew E. Newhall of Cupertino, CA.
Sonny is preceded in death by his son, Rupert J. Hill of Virginia Beach, VA; and sister, Sandra Hardley, and surviving husband Kenny of Ohio.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Belton will be conducting a viewing on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and chapel service on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home with graveside service with military honors immediately following chapel service at the Bellwood Cemetery in Temple, TX.
