Graveside services for Barbara Lou Smith, 73, of Belton will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 12, 2017 at North Belton Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at her home.
She was born March 21, 1944 in Lamesa to the late S.R. and Evelyn G. Jeter. She married Layne R. Smith on June 25, 1970 in Seminole. Early in life Barbara owned and operated a beauty shop and had an in-home daycare; more recently she worked in home healthcare. Barbara was a member of South Seminole Baptist Church where she once taught Sunday school.
Barbara enjoyed reading romance novels and working in her garden but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Survivors include her 3 daughters, Kryslin Moore and husband Perishe of Dallas, DaLayna Smith of Kemah, and Shaunda Smith and husband Curtis Sanders of Belton; a sister, Dalilah Keeling of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren, Aspen Sommers, Shaelyn Gomez, Faith Gomez, Kya Sanders, King Moore, and Lance Davis and 2 great-grandchildren, Truett and Sarayne Sommers. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Bandit.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of arrangements.
