In the early morning hours of April 3, 2018, a dearly loved, Godly woman passed away and we mourn our loss. We also celebrate because we are certain of her new residence in heaven. Marie, Bess to her family, left behind her four children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She touched many lives both family and friends and set a wonderful example by demonstrating a strong work ethic, generous spirit, and a kind giving heart.
Marie was the third of eight children of Jim and Emma Titlow and was born at home near Athens, TX. on May 17, 1924. Her family came to include three brothers and four sisters and lived in Llano Texas where her father sold Raleigh products and farmed. In 1941 they moved to Belton where she graduated from Belton High School in 1942. After graduation and six weeks at Mary Hardin Baylor Marie began working as a secretary at Fort Hood.
On July 3, 1943, she married H. C. Welch in Wichita Falls, TX. During their 57 years of marriage they raised four children, Lois, Sue, Trish and Roger. Their homes during her 93 years included, Belton, Temple, Abilene, and Colorado Springs, Co. Nine years ago Marie moved to New Braunfels to be near her three daughters.
While we mourn her passing we rejoice and are comforted by the knowledge that she will enter her heavenly home with those who have been eagerly awaiting her arrival.
A memorial will be held at 11:30 April 9, 2018 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton, Texas. A graveside service will follow where she will rest beside H. C. and her parents, Jim and Emma Titlow. Lunch will be served at the Belton Church of Christ family center immediately following.
We celebrate today in that Marie can now claim God's promise to take her home to live with Him forever.
