Billie L. Kirkley, age 96 of Belton, passed from this life Wednesday, October 23, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Services will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024, with a visitation starting at 9 am at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton, followed by a graveside service at North Belton Cemetery at 11 am with Sylvester Olivas officiating.

Billie was born on June 8, 1928, to Leander B. and Eula Mae (Shropshire) Butler in Belton, Texas. Her greatest joy was creating a warm and inviting home where her family could gather and share memorable moments. Her favorite memories are those spent surrounded by family and friends. Billie had a deep appreciation for nature. She often expressed a dream of living by the river, where she could immerse herself in the beauty of the great outdoors. She loved fishing and camping, finding peace and happiness under the vast Texas sky. Billie also enjoyed playing bingo and shopping, bringing her own sense of adventure to each outing. She was a proud member of the VFW #4008 Ladies Auxiliary as well. This involvement showcased her spirit of service and dedication to helping others, values she cherished deeply.

Billie is preceded by her first husband and the father of her children, Glenn E. Kelley; second husband, Dale Kirkley; sons, Grady Kelley, David Kelley, James P. “Pat” Kelley, and Timothy Kelley; and daughter, Diana Mitchum.

Survivors include her son, Michael D. Kelley and wife, Juanita of Karnes; daughters, Glenda Herring, and Rebecca LaRocque and husband, James, both of Belton; 21 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 51 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Billie's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her, her memory a cherished flame that can never be extinguished.
