Burl Tyson Land, 95, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Due to current Covid 19 conditions, the family has requested a private graveside service.
Burl T. Land was born on November 18, 1925 in Bastrop, Texas to Ruth and Tom Land. He and his family moved to Temple, Texas where Burl grew up and he joined the U.S. Navy to fight in World War II in 1943. He served his country all over the world including 17 foreign countries. He was Honorably Discharged in 1946 and went home to Temple, Texas where he met and married Frances D. Keith. Burl and Frances were married on May 12, 1946 in Heidenheimer, Texas and were together for 60 years when Frances passed away in 2006. Burl was an entrepreneur and he and his wife worked side by side in their fabric and floral supply businesses.
Burl loved playing dominoes, anytime, anywhere, and with anyone and also enjoyed playing golf with his sons for many years. He dearly loved and cherished his family. Survivors include his two sons, Burl T. Land Jr. and wife Linda and Glen A. Land and wife Ruthe. He is also survived by five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, 6700 Sanger Avenue, Waco Texas 76710 or your favorite charity.
