Obituary

Charlene Gayle (Stewart) Cook of Temple, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2026, at the age of 82. She was surrounded by family and friends in her final hours.

Charlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Stewart, Ronald Stewart, and Elbert Stewart; her sisters, Joy Shotz and Mary Frederick; her husband, Curtis Cook Sr.; and her two sons, Craig and Wayne Cook.

She is survived by her sons, Curtis Cook of Salado, Texas, and Christopher Cook of Hamilton, Ohio, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charlene was born on April 30, 1943, in Hamilton, Ohio. She married Curtis Cook Sr. in 1959, and they moved to Florida in 1961. She was a stay-at-home mother until her children were older. She then attended and graduated from cosmetology school in Florida and became a licensed cosmetologist. She was self-employed for many years.

She and her husband moved to Central Texas in 1995 to be closer to their grandchildren. Charlene worked at J.C. Penney’s Hair Salon in Hamilton and Killeen. She was a Master Designer and was selected five times as an All-Star.

Charlene enjoyed boating, fishing, and taking trips with her family, especially cruises. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 6 at 3C Cowboy Church, 16258 Gooseneck Road, Salado, Texas.

Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
