Funeral services for Roe Charles "Charlie" Sanders, 80, of Temple will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery.
Charlie was born on November 10, 1936 in Lyons, KS to the late Ewell Sanders and Esther Hicks. He served our country with the US Army for over 21 years, retiring as a Sergeant in November 1979. After his military service he worked for the City of Temple as a building inspector. Charlie married Lily Thompson in Belton on April 6, 1973.
Charlie was a devoted husband and caregiver to his beloved wife Lily. He was interested in photography and enjoyed watching television, especially westerns and Survivor. He will be remembered as the loving husband, father and grandfather that he was and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joy Ann; 2 sons, Todd McDonald and Richard McDonald and a daughter, Patti Sanders.
Survivors include his wife, Lily Sanders; 4 sons, Kenneth (Pam) Sanders, James (Helen) Billingsley, Larry McDonald and David (Karen) McDonald; 3 daughters, Ronda (Robert) Rice, Teresa (Larry) Neal and Patty (Billy) Machen; 1 sister, Sandy (Dan) McElherney; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the funeral home.
