Funeral services for Daffy Carpenter, 95, of Belton will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.
She passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at a local hospital.
Daffy was born August 20, 1920 in Italy, Texas to the late Dolph and Maudie (Jenkins) Yarbrough. Daffy moved with her family from Italy to Waco when she was 16. She was educated in Italy and Waco, she also attended the 4C Business College and Baylor University. She attended annual seminars at Texas A & M and Quartermasters at Blackland. Daffy married Louis Carpenter in Belton on November 8, 1946 and moved to Belton where she has resided ever since. Daffy was Manager of Retail Merchants and District Clerk of Bell County for 35 years before her retirement in December 1994. She was a member of the Belton Business Women's Club, VFW, American Legion, and SPJST. Daffy attended First Christian Church of Belton where she was a deacon.
Daffy enjoyed beach trips, gardening, big band music, going for walks and gambling. Blackjack was her favorite. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished time spent with her family. She will be remembered for her self-confidence, poise and always looking her best. Daffy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carpenter; her son, William "Bill" Carpenter; her brother, Ervin Yarbrough and her sister, Lois Smith.
Survivors include 2 beloved grandchildren, Jason Carpenter and Diana, and Sara Williams; 2 great-grandchildren, Madison Williams and Brendan Barnard.
