Darvin Self

Darvin Maurice Self, age 87 of Belton, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Moffat Cemetery in Moody.

Darvin was born March 6, 1933 to Dulancie Manuel “Bud” and Fay Marie (Powell) Self in Sylvester, Texas. He attended school in Sweetwater and later attended McMurray University. He married Frieda Gavit. Darvin was retired from the Internal Revenue Service. He was a member of the American Legion.

Darvin is preceded in death by his parents, D.M. “Bud” and Fay (Powell) Self; wife, Frieda Lee (Gavit) Self; brother, Troy Self; daughter, Sandra Self; and grandson, Kenneth Self, Jr.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his sister, Bonnie Polnack of Sweetwater; sister, Joy Cummins of Supula, OK; son, Kenneth Self of Belton; son, Mark Self and wife, Betty of Belton; daughter, Carol Hyde of Rock City Falls, NY; daughter, Patty Self and husband, Grady of Pflugerville; grandchildren, Michelle Self, Jessica Hyde, Lauren Self, Joshua Hyde, Jeff Self, Vance Self and John Self; and great grandchildren, Jayden Jones, Wade Twomey, Charles Robillard and Cole Self.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.
