Dorothy L. Riddle, 89, went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Senior Care of Marlandwood East in Temple, Texas. Dorothy was born on February 1, 1928 in Lynchburg, Virginia the daughter of Albert and Eura Ethel Garrett.
Dorothy was united in marriage to James G. Riddle in Lynchburg, Virginia. They lived in numerous locations following his military career finally retiring in Belton.
She spent her career as a waitress working in San Francisco at Bob's, in Belton at the Captains Table and owned Dot & Jim's Café in Belton with her husband Jim. In her later years she worked as a Demo Lady at Sam's for 20 years. An avid bingo player she made many friends, who enjoyed the treats she brought and shared.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Riddle of 37 years; her second husband, Louis "Slim" Jackson; her parents and a brother, William Garrett of Madison Heights, Virginia.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, a daughter, Patricia Payne and husband Phillip of Mertzon, Texas; son, James G. Riddle Jr. and wife Rosie of Hewitt, Texas; son, Danny T. Riddle and wife Dee of Belton, Texas; five beloved grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Albert Garrett of Madison Heights, Virginia and Owen Garrett of Lynchburg, Virgina. She is also survived by her extended adopted family, James and Susan Miller, their two children and two grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at North Belton Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
