Dorothy Pauline Slack

Dorothy Pauline Slack passed away peacefully in a Temple, Texas hospital on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 3:10 a.m. due to health complications. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Dorothy was born on August 15, 1938, in Rogers, Arkansas, to Ora LeRoy and Alberta Presley. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Marvin LeRoy, Jack LeRoy, Jim LeRoy, and Donald LeRoy; her sister Margeret McCormick; her sons Jimmie Pike Sr. and one stepson James Slack Jr.; and her grandchildren Shelly Pike, Christopher Pike, and Robert-Mensch Jr. She is also preceded in death by four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy spent half of her life in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she met the love of her life, James Slack Sr. They later moved to Temple, Texas, where they settled and built a home together.

She worked for many years as a waitress before becoming a devoted homemaker. Dorothy is survived by her husband, James Slack Sr.; her daughters Wanda Parris, Patricia Peavy, Debbie Hayworth, Alberta Johnson, Tabitha Loeffler, Dorothy Slack, and Misty Slack; stepdaughters Barbara Cruz and Tina Slack; her son Henry Pike; and a stepson, Danny Slack.

Dorothy leaves behind a lasting legacy through her 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy loved spending time with her family and cooking meals that brought everyone together. Her formidable spirit, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
