Graveside services for Ernestine "Teen" L. Humphrey, 93, of Belton will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton with Matt Albrecht and James Freedman officiating.
She passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at a local nursing facility.
She was born on October 16, 1923 in Bell County to the late J. E. and Edgie Lee (Carpenter) Wilhite. She was raised in Sparta Valley. On June 1, 1941 she married Gene Humphrey in Belton. She then moved to Houston where she worked as a diamond sales specialist at United Jewelers for 17 years before her retirement. She also worked with her husband as a long haul truck driver and in home health. She returned to Belton in 1987 and was a member of the Church of Christ in Holland. She was a member of the Eastern Star # 915 in Houston.
Ernestine, "Teen" as she was loving called by her family and friends, was a very kind and loving person. She was loved her family and every moment she could spend with them was considered precious to her. Teen always looked forward to visiting with "The Wilhite Girls Cousins Club" at their monthly meeting. She enjoyed learning as much as she could about her family through genealogy research. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Larry Humphrey; grandson, Jerry Don Humphrey; great-grandson, Clayton Barrington; her parents; and 2 sisters, Mary K. Brown and Margaret Bert Bounds.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Mac Humphrey; 2 daughters, Beverly Davis and Joyce "Donnie" Barrington; a sister, Billie Inez; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brother in laws, Denman Humphrey and Chick Humphrey; a sister in law, Billie Ruth Mekiel and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.
