Evelyn Oldham

Services for Evelyn Nannie Oldham, 89, of Temple will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 26 at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Dan Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.

She died Saturday afternoon at a local care facility.

Nannie was born July 25, 1923 in Sparta, Texas to Tom Elijah and Laura A. Finch Humphrey. She married L.C. MuttOldham on December 28, 1939. They were married for 56 years, and made their home in Belton. She was an active member at Keys Valley Baptist Church and was often found teaching a Sunday school class or vacation bible school. She loved singing hymns and sharing her faith.

Nannie loved spending time with her family and made friends everywhere she went. Her home was often the hub for holidays and special celebrations, as well as Sunday dinners. She loved to play card games and work crossword puzzles and in her more active years she would swim and play basketball with the grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 26, 1996 son Bobby Wade Oldham on May 12, 1980 son Lannie Craig Oldham, Sr. on September 16, 2010 and grandson Tony Baratta on February 22, 2006.

Survivors include sons Ronnie Oldham and wife Bernadette of Temple, and Gary Oldham and wife Patti of Belton. Her daughters, Norma Baratta and husband Frank of Howell, New Jersey, and Martha Grimm and husband Glenn of Villa Rica, Georgia. Two daughtersinlaw, Roma Caughlin and husband Tim, of Belton and Gloria Oldham of Belton. She was Nannie to 15 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren and one greatgreat grandson. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Frank Baratta, Jr., Jerry Morris, Lannie Craig Oldham, Jr., Jason Oldham, Zachary Oldham, Stephen Caughlin and Kirk Cook.

Nannie held a special place in the hearts of all her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by all.

A visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday evening.
