Funeral services for Florine Massar, 70, of Cameron will be held 10 AM Monday, May 21, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Belton. A time of visitation and fellowship will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM.
Mrs. Massar passed from this life on Thursday, May 17, 2018 while surrounded by her beloved family. Florine was born on August 8, 1947 to Raymond J. and Azalete McDowell in Belton. She was a life-long Central Texan. Mrs. Massar was an administrative assistant for BISD for over 20 years. She was a wonderful cook and she was always preparing something delicious for every occasion. Florine especially enjoyed cooking and baking for the Christmas Holiday. Everyone especially loved her homemade pickles. Her many wonderful meals brought comfort and joy to all of her family and friends. She enjoyed lots of different types of music. Florine was also talented with a needle and thread. She always had a project going, no matter if it was a quilt or crocheting, it was always a labor of love. Without a doubt her greatest treasure in life was her family. She absolutely loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Florine was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Sam Massar Jr., Richard Allen Massar; sisters, Judy Thompson, Marie McDowell, and Edna Carney.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 50 years, Sam A. Massar; daughter, Rebecca Mensch and husband, Micah; sons, Darrell Massar and wife, Karen, Michael Massar and wife, Cheryl; sisters, Bessie Phifer, Marry Tatum; brother, JD McDowell grandchildren, Courtney, Joshua, Josiah, Cooper, Walker, Jonah, and Carsyn.
