Gary Kent Brinegar, age 75 of Belton, passed from this life Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday, December 16, 2022, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery in Kempner.
Gary was born on May 15, 1947, to Emmett and Mary Faye (Bishop) Brinegar in Killeen, Texas. He attended Killeen High School. Gary was drafted into the military and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Gary married Aida (Pereira) Brinegar on January 11, 1970, in Killeen. Gary worked for U.M.H.B. for 33 years in maintenance. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, and a lifetime member of the Belton V.F.W. He was also a member of many clubs including the Sportsman Club of Temple, Killeen Ropin & Ridin Club, the Red River Gun Fighters, and the 6th Texas Infantry (Fighting 6). Gary loved to fish and hunt, and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He loved making handmade pipes out of deer antlers. Gary could build or fix anything. He was a Jack-of-all-Trades, but a Master of None. Gary was a loving husband, father, and pawpaw. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Tony Brinegar.
Survivors include his wife, Aida Brinegar; brothers, Joe Don Brinegar, and Richard Brinegar; sister, Beverly Leggio; daughters, Kristy Brinegar, and Sandy Brinegar Moffatt; grandchildren, Jesse Brinegar, Max Moffatt, Josse Moffatt, Aaliyah Foster, and Tony Foster; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, and to St. Joseph’s Native American School.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Miguel Laboy, Lee and Kim Caulfield, and a very special thanks to Trish Reding.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the funeral home.
