George Harold Titlow was born January 21, 1931 in Llano to James A. and Emma (Hilburn) Titlow. He was surrounded by his family when he passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the age of 87 in a Round Rock hospital.
George is survived by his children, James A. Titlow and wife Denise, Jay H. Titlow, and Teresa Dominguez and husband Chris. He is also survived by his sisters, Delia Ricard, Mary Hayes, and Lou Miller; and his 8 beloved grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Titlow; his wife, Mary Titlow; brothers, Stanford Titlow and Johnny Titlow; and sisters, Betty Stockton and Bessie Welch.
George spent his early childhood in Llano, he then lived in Bell County until 2011 when he moved back to his beloved home place in Llano. He married Mary Jones on December 13, 1953 in Belton. Together they shared a loving marriage of 56 years before Mary passed away on October 23, 2010. George worked for the Bell County Road Department and Buds Western Store in Jarrell before his retirement. He was a member of 15th Street Church of Christ in Temple and more recently attended Lone Grove Church of Christ in Llano.
George was a loving and kind man, always willing to help others when needed. He was a selfless and compassionate caregiver to his wife, mother, mother-in-law and son. In 1996, George's son Jay was in an accident that left him disabled, George has faithfully tended to Jay's care and needs ever since. George was a friend to all and helped many through the difficult times of illness and death.
George was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, and making and cooking deer sausage. He especially enjoyed riding pack horses in the mountains of Colorado. He would often serve as a trail guide taking out groups of riders to experience the land he loved so much. A few years back his nephews, Johnny and Gene Titlow, wouldn't take "no" for an answer and they took George, 82 years old at the time, to Colorado for a trail ride. George rode the pack horses for many long hours and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
George will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather and faithful servant of God. George loved his family and shared a special relationship with his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Belton Church of Christ or 15th Street Church of Christ in Temple.
Funeral services for George will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton with Jack Titlow officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery.
