Gladys Rachel Nelson, age 85, stepped into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 31,
2018. Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, 10:30 am at

Gladys was born in Belton, Texas on September 26, 1932 to George Talbert and
Millie Cecil Stewart, and was the seventh of eight children.
Gladys married Clarence "Red" Nelson in 1991, and had many years enjoying life
with him. Gladys had a life-long spirit of giving and she made a friend wherever
she went. She was a long time member at Trinity Full Gospel Church. She was an
extraordinary seamstress and cook. Many hours were spent baking pies and
candies for gifts or making gifts of love on her sewing machine. She was creative
and worked hard her entire life never putting anyone but Jesus and her family first.
She loved hunting and was the best marksman in our family - outshooting all the
men every deer season. Gladys loved to sit outside and enjoy God's creations.
She had a humility about her not ever wanting for much - just for others. There
will never be anyone like her in our lives again. She was the glue - she was our
foundation and she was loved beyond measure. She will be dearly missed in the
lives of all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lacy "Frank" Stanley and her second
husband, Red Nelson. Her siblings, G.T., Elmer, Jean, Harry, and Marie and her
precious grandson, Randy Allen Stanley.
Survivors include her children - Joana Herring and husband Johnny; Debbie Terry and
her husband Charles; Earl Stanley and his wife Wanda; and Trig Stanley and his
wife Beth; her step-daughter, Nina Gay Crathers and her husband Wayne; Her
sister - Thelma Reynolds; 13 grandchildren - Mark (Amy), Sharon (Chris),
Andrew (Stephanie), Gail Frank, Kevin (AnnaKate), Jason, Caitlin, Jeremiah
(Jennifer), Trista, Ashley, Jeff, Zaria and Joey and 14 great grandchildren.
Her children would like to acknowledge their gratitude to their mom's private nurse, Jackie Woods who cared for their mother with genuine compassion, kindness and love.
In lieu of flowers, if you desire, an offering can be made in her memory to Trinity Full Gospel, 810 E. 2nd Ave., Belton, Texas 76513
