Ira Franklin "Bob" Crigger was born January 22, 1929 at Spring Valley, Grayson County, Virginia to William E. Crigger and Rosie Bell Lloyd Crigger. He had 5 brothers, 1 sister, and was the last surviving member of this generation. He was raised in Grayson County until age 11; then in Henry County, Martinsville, Virginia until entering the US Army March 19, 1947 and served until April 1, 1953. He was stationed in the Far East command under Gen. Douglas MacArthur. He also served in the Korean War and 4 ½ years overseas.
Bob married Grenita DeJuatha Butler Johnson on November 7, 1953. The one and only love of his life for 57 years until her death on October 3, 2010. Now they are together again.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include 2 sons, Kerry Johnson and wife Laurel and Tom Crigger; 2 daughters, Suzy Cossey and husband Charles and Susan Millstead; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton. Randy Holtzclaw will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Eddy Cemetery. The family will receive visitors for 1 hour before the service.
