Graveside services, with full Police Honors, for Bell County Deputy Constable Jeffrey E. Radford, 69, of Temple will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Rabbi Michael Gisser will be officiating.
He passed away, while on duty, October 28, 2015.
Jeffrey was born May 14, 1946 in Syracuse, New York to the late Emmons & Florence Radford.
He proudly enlisted into the United States Army in May of 1967 as a Tactical Transport Helicopter Repairer. After serving 10 years he reenlisted as a Military Police Officer for an additional 9 years which brought him to his retirement in May of 1987. During his military career he earned many decorations including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Bar (3), Republic of Vietnam Counteroffensive, Republic of Vietnam Counteroffensive phase II, IV, V, and VI. American Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, and Aircraft Crewman Badge.
After retirement from the military he began his career in law enforcement. He worked for Isreal Police Department, Bartlett Police Department, and Nolanville Police Department as a police officer. In April of 2012 he became a Bell County Deputy Constable, where he proudly served in his position until his death.
Jeff was a member of the Masons and proudly practiced the Jewish faith.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Radford and Andrew Radford; a brother, Brian Radford; longtime companion, Gladys Johnson; his brothers at the Constables office; along with many friends and co-workers.
Services have been entrusted to Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
