Barbara Joann Walker, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Temple, Texas Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
Joann was born on August 18, 1933, to Marshall M. Adams and Virginia Dare Matlock in Belton, Texas. She lived a life filled with remarkable experiences and cherished memories. Joann dedicated many years of her life to First Federal Savings and Loan before retiring. She brought professionalism and dedication to her work, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Outside of her professional life, Joann found joy in various hobbies and interests. She was a member of Meadow Oaks Baptist Church in Temple. She also possessed an adventurous spirit that led her to embrace thrilling experiences like riding motorcycles and exciting trips to gamble at the casinos. A lover of literature, Joann's passion for reading knew no bounds. She enjoyed reading all types of books. In moments of relaxation at home, "Yellowstone" became one of Joann's favorite television shows. She was captivated by the gripping storyline and majestic landscapes depicted on screen. Joann shared many cherished memories with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Joann is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Raymond Lindsey; brother, Mike Adams; sister, Gale Sellers; and sons, Ray “Buz” Lindsey, and Forrest “Tony” Walker.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband, Forrest Walker; sister, Pansy Lange; daughters, Zen Gee, Teri O’Grady, and Renee Walker; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Meadow Oaks Baptist Church.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at the funeral home.
