John Southwell

John Joseph Southwell was born on January 13, 1927 in Nettle Lake, Ohio the son of John Henry and Grace Helen (Farnsworth) Southwell. He was surrounded by his family when he passed away on April 9, 2018 at the age of 91.
John proudly served in the US Air Force from October 1945 until his honorable discharge in January 1950. After his military service he worked as a machinist at Tecumseh Products and Allied Products in Michigan. John married Mildred Washburn on April 27, 1951 in Hillsdale, Michigan. John attended Assembly of God church and for the last five years made his home in Moody, Texas.
John enjoyed farming, hunting and woodworking. He especially loved spending time with his family and taking road trips. He was a loving husband, supportive father and proud grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Southwell and a daughter, Patricia Ann Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Southwell; a son, Michael Southwell and wife Tena; and two grandchildren, Shawna Zitrick and Sierra Southwell.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-3:00 pm.
