Services for Keith William Fruehan, 70, will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 12, 2016 Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton. Burial with military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Rev. Betty Malone will be officiating.
He passed away Saturday, September, 3, 2016 in Houston surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Keith was born in Scranton, PA on March 24, 1946 to the late Robert & Irene Fruehan. He proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Army retiring as a Lt. Colonel (USAR). Following his military career, he worked as a Civil Service Educational Counselor for 22 years on Fort Hood. Keith's service career included several tours to Kosovo and Germany where his happiest memories remained. Included in his major accomplishments were working with soldiers at the Army Education Center at Fort Hood, and serving on the Board of Body of Christ Clinic, Belton, TX. Keith received a bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan and master's degree in counseling from Ball State University. He attended Lott Presbyterian Church, and resided in Belton for the last 10 years.
Keith was known to all for his love of fishing, his selfless love of family and friends, and his desire to serve God.
Keith is survived by his wife, Karen Wilkinson Fruehan; a brother, Charles Fruehan, a daughter, Tasha E. Guzman, her husband Joseph, their three children, William, Claire, Luke,; a son, Joshua C. Fruehan; his wife Rebecca, their three children Molly, Reed, and Adeline.
