Linda Payne

January 19, 1949 — June 10, 2018

Linda Carroll Payne was born January 19, 1949 in Belton to Arthur and Mary (Othello) Hubbard. Her loving family was by her side when she passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the age of 69.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Weldon Payne; her son Curtis Payne and wife, Jammie and her beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Connor, Jessalyn, Colton and Avery Payne, all of Moody. She is also survived by her brothers, Kermit Hubbard of Oklahoma City, Nathan Hubbard of Cypress, and Norman Hubbard of Moody; nieces and nephews, Krista Salesberry, Kent Hubbard, Jarrod Hubbard, Susan Pustejovsky, Brian Hubbard and Amy Barton; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Hubbard and a sister, Robbie Hubbard.
Linda was raised in Moody and graduated from Moody High School in 1967. She married her high school sweetheart, Weldon Payne, on January 6, 1968 at Moody Church of Christ. Together they traveled wherever Weldon's military career took them and along the way they raised their son, Curtis. Linda was a devoted wife and mother and always had a loving home for her family and their friends.
Linda worked at Kings Daughters Clinic for over eighteen years. She retired in December 2008 as the director of credentials. She was an active member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, helped with VBS, prepared bereavement meals and cared for her church family in any way she could.
Linda treated everyone like family and was affectionately known as "Meme" to not only her family but to most everyone who knew her. She was a faithful supporter of the Stampede Creek 4-H club and their activities. She prepared many meals to feed the club families and volunteers during the youth fair and other meetings.
Meme loved her family and cherished any time they spent together. She enjoyed shopping, camping and decorating for all of the holidays. To Linda, no occasion was too small for a big celebration. She had a big heart and wanted to make sure everyone felt special. She has left us all with special memories and legacy of love for family and friends.
