Lois Sheeler

Funeral Services for Lois Irene Keller Sheeler, 94, of Moffat, will be held 10 AM Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Belton. There will be a time of visitation and fellowship on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 6-8 PM.
Mrs. Sheeler passed from this life on Thursday, May 17, 2018 while surrounded by her beloved family. Lois was born in Spencerville, OH on April 1, 1924 to Ira Brice and Lois Lucille Keller. Mrs. Sheeler has lived in the Central Texas area for over forty years. She was a long-time member at First United Methodist Church of Belton. Lois was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. She served our country proudly during World War II. She was the oldest living female World War II veteran of Bell County. Mrs. Sheeler was a dedicated registered nurse for forty plus years. She graduated from Lima Memorial Nursing School in 1951. Lois worked for Scott & White Memorial Hospital for seventeen years as an ER Charge Nurse until her retirement. After her retirement she went to work as a full-time volunteer, giving her time to many different organizations, which became her true calling. A few of the many organizations that she gave her time to are, Scott & White Pioneers, VAVS, Central Texas Republican Women, MCL Auxiliary Department Texas-Alamo Unit, Waves, National Women Veterans Organization and Belton High School Band Boosters. Above all else she was a loving wife a devoted mother and a beloved grandmother. Her greatest treasure in life was her family. She will forever be remembered as a patriot that lived her life for God, country, and family.
Lois is preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Bernard J. Sheeler, Ret. USMC; brothers, Frank B. Keller, Larry B. Keller; sisters, JoAnn Blank, EmmaGene Kennedy, and a son-in-law, Joey Roper.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters, Deborah Sheeler Roper of Belton, Gretchen Sheeler Kendall of Temple, Charlotte D. Sheeler of Temple; brother, Rodney J. Keller and wife, Becky of Lima, OH; and most especially her five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special word of thanks and appreciation to the wonderful people with Kindred Care Hospice and Moffat Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given in Lois' name to the building fund at Crossroads Church or CTRW Scholarship fund.
