Louise Johnson

August 19, 1925 — December 29, 2017

Della Louise Johnson was born on August 19, 1925 and passed peacefully from this world December 29, 2017 to join all the many faithful who have gone on before her. Louise was born in Holland, Texas to William Henry Baker and Bertha Matie Treuhardt Baker.

She married the love of her life, John Samuel Johnson, on August 17, 1945 and they enjoyed 53 years together. They loved children, and together they had three daughters, six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. They also nurtured many children through childcare in their home and teaching children at the First Baptist Church in Lake Jackson, TX. Louise loved every occasion that allowed her to spend time with her family and to build lasting memories with her growing brood of grandchildren and great-grands.
She was a feisty opinionated woman who loved to laugh, enjoyed good food, rooted for her favorite teams and loved to win at dominos and Skip-Bo. While she was still able, she was frequently found supporting her girls and their children in all of their many sporting events, performances and activities. She will be remembered as a loving mate, a supportive mom, a doting grandmother and a faithful follower of Jesus.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, her parents, Bill and Matie Baker, and one brother, J.B. Baker. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Lindsey and husband Charles of Lubbock, TX, daughter Janet Tharpe and husband Gary of Ft. Collins, CO and daughter Nancy Barris and husband Michael of Pueblo, CO. Moreover, she is survived by her brother Buddy Baker and wife Melba of Holland, TX, and by Bo and Jerry Johnson (brother & sister-in-law), and Francis Miller (sister-in-law) and Judy Johnson (sister-in-law). She is also survived by the pride and joy of her life, her grandchildren: Jeremy Lindsey and wife Tracey, Kim Blackwood and husband Nathan, Jennifer Wilcox and husband Jeff, April Broyler and husband Justin, Kelli Volger and husband Brent, and Scott Barris, as well as her great grandchildren: Kelsi, Hannah and Dillon Lindsey, Brennan and Lindsey Blackwood, Noah and Ginger Hartman, Wren Wilcox and Carter and Brooke Broyler.

Memorials or donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Soaring Eagles Autism Center in Pueblo, CO, 125 W. Palmer Lake Dr. Pueblo, CO 81007 and to the Volunteer Christian Builders at vcbuilders.org.
