Lucinda Wilson

Funeral services for Lucinda "Lucy" Wilson, 77, of Gatesville will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton with Bro. Tim Crosby and Pastor Sam Callaway officiating. Burial will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery in Elgin.
She passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at a care center in Gatesville.
Lucy was born on December 3, 1939 in Elgin to the late Manuel Martinez and Jesusa Barron. She married Duane Wilson on December 3, 1981 in Brownwood. Lucy worked as a train conductor for Santa Fe Railroad for many years. She was the first female train conductor in the Northern Division. Lucy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Gatesville.
Lucy was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved children. Lucy was a Silver Life Master Bridge player and an accomplished bowler. She enjoyed tournament bowling and had earned numerous 600 Game Pins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Manny Newsom.
Survivors include her husband, Duane Wilson of Gatesville; sons, Thomas Elton Venhaus of Jackson, MI and Zachary Duane Wilson of Midland; daughters, Sylvia Low of Belton, Alice Harvey of Temple and Patience Wilson of Academy; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Sean, Jessica, Chapin & Reagan and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
