Services for Mary Katherine “Kay” Stapp, age 91 of Rogers, and formerly of Florence and Lake Buchanan will be held at 10 am Friday, February 16, 2024, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. A burial will follow in Florence Cemetery.
Mrs. Stapp died Monday, February 5, at her home in Rogers.
She was born September 28, 1932, in Taylor’s Valley to Clinton, Sr. and Lizzie (Thomas) Montgomery. She graduated from Academy High School. She married Walter Joe Moon in 1949. Kay later married Joel Dick Stapp on May 20, 1983.
Mrs. Stapp worked for ITT Grinnell, Temple Tag and together with her husband, Dick owned Silver Creek One Stop at Lake Buchanan before retiring.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; her brothers, Clinton Montgomery Jr., Lloyd Montgomery, Martin Montgomery, Mackey Montgomery, Joe Montgomery, and Sam Montgomery; sisters, Verniece Moon, Marjorie Foster; and stepdaughter, Donna Curb.
Survivors include three sons: Glenn Moon of Euless, Kenneth Moon and Price Moon of Rogers; two daughters Cathy Moon of Belton and Brenda Huff of Rogers; stepdaughters: Diane Gray of Goldthwaite; and Debbie Daniel of Rusk; brothers: Jack Montgomery of Tyler, Donald Montgomery of Bakersfield, CA, William “Butch” Montgomery of Temple and sister: Sue Bross of Round Rock; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
The visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday, February 15, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
