Mary White

January 6, 1941 — September 30, 2017

Mary Jane was born January 6, 1941 in Dalhart, Texas to Henry and Charlotte Want. Mary Jane was the seventh of eight children and grew up in the Dalhart/Amarillo area.
Mary Jane married JT White in 1959 and moved closer to family in Gatesville before settling in Moody in 1967 where they raised their children Debbie, Perry and Sonia. In 1986 Mary Jane received her nursing degree for which she was very proud and worked at Kings Daughters Hospital until she found her true calling as a Geriatric Nurse at which she worked until her retirement.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, son, parents and three sisters. She is survived by brothers, Lewis and Henry Want; sisters, Lynn Giebel and Delores Jarboe; daughter, Debbie Schmidt and husband David of Moody; daughter, Sonia Lofton and husband Frank of Cedar Park; six grandchildren; Jessica and Jillian Schmidt, Katie and Jacob Lofton and Blake and JT White; two great grandchildren Delilah and Marcos Caraballo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and the other Lofton kids that adopted her as another Grammy.
Mary Jane loved to cook and sew but above all, she loved spending time with family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The White house was always open to friends and family, you would usually find her in the kitchen cooking or baking something delicious. Mary Jane had a feisty competitive spirit and a nurturing heart and she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
A memorial service for Mary Jane will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Friday in the chapel.
