Funeral Services for Midoriko Dori Evans, 85, of Killeen are scheduled for 1:30 pm Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1410 South 2nd Street in Killeen with Bishop Michael R. Lower officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Dori was born on September 6, 1927 at Toyko, Japan to the late Heizaburou and Hanako Ishikawa Koiso. After meeting William O. Evans, Jr. on a blind date at the USO they married on May 4, 1953 in Japan and then moved to the United States.

Mrs. Evans worked for the Fort Hood Club system retiring in 2007 from the Officers Club. Helping any and everyone was her past time. It never mattered if the person in need was family, friends or someone she never meet before, she wanted to extend her hand. She loved to shop but most of all she loved spending time with her family watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in all activities from school to sporting events.

Her husband and one grandson, William R. Evans preceded her in death.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Charles and Judith Evans of Michigan, Doreen and Max McConnell of Copperas Cove, Teri and Marven Vodrey of Killeen, William Evans of the Dominican Republic, Debra E. and Junior Odom of Killeen two sisters, Akiko Watanabe, Yumiko Kanno both of Japan twelve grandchildren, Shala Fondren, Cheri OBraden and husband Eric, Scott Vodrey, Shaun Alford, Nikki Gile, Colton Odom, Austin Evans, Madison Odom, Wyatt Odom, Ben Vodrey, Cooper Evans, Christopher Vodrey six Great grandchildren, Gavin Alford, Bethany Wille, Kaitlin Fondren, Emily OBraden, Caleb Gile, and Rylee Gile.

Should friends desire, the family suggest that memorials be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter 5501 S Clear Creek Rd, Killeen, TX 76549 or the charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 68 pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
