Belton

Minnie Janell "Nell" Drake, age 75 of Belton, passed from this life Thursday, December 7, 2023, peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.

Nell was born on October 5, 1948, to the late Rupert "R.E." Hendricks and Sybil Jewel (Stovall) Hendricks in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her life was lived with endless love, joy, and a faithful dedication to her family. She shared 47 years of unwavering companionship and love with her beloved husband, Charles Drake, until his passing 8 years ago on September 14, 2015. Nell's passing leaves an intense void in the hearts of those who knew her, but we find solace in knowing she is dancing with her true love again. She cherished her family above all else, radiating warmth and kindness in every moment she spent with them. Nell was a beacon of love, always nurturing and supporting her loved ones with a selflessness that knew no bounds. Her steady love and guidance will forever be remembered and cherished by those who loved her. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball. Her eyes lit up with pride as she cheered on each swing, catch, and home run. Her presence at the games was a testament to her endless support and love for her grandchildren. Nell leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, compassion, and a deep commitment to family that will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her love and the beautiful memories she created provide comfort during this difficult time. She will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents, R.E. and Sybil Hendricks; loving husband, Charles W. Drake; and sister, Joann Adams (and husband Homer).

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Shayne Drake and wife, Susie; daughters, Brandi Tamplen and husband, Darrell, and Lacey Cantu and husband, Scott; brothers, Jim Hendricks and wife, Kay, and Doug Hendricks and wife, Kristy; sisters, Judy Lucky and husband, Bill, June Jensen and husband, Bob, Jackie Holder and husband, Neville, and Nita Davis and husband, Sam; 10 grandchildren, Blake Tamplen, Clinten Tamplen and wife, Allison, Ty Tamplen and wife, Tanner, Mason Drake and wife, Bailee, Avery Drake, Mckenzie Drake, AJ Peters, Ryker Peters, Gentry Cantu, and Dawson Cantu; and great grandchild, Banks Wade Drake.
