Memorial services for Otto D. Sanford, 89, of Belton will be held at 10 am Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Chapel in Belton.
He passed away Monday at his home.
Otto was born February 1, 1926 in Cleburne to the late John Franklin & Iva May (Bankston) Sanford. He attended school in Cleburne and Whitney. Otto joined the Navy in 1942 and served 3 years during World War II. He married Nelda Marie Sanford in 1946, she preceded him in death in 1988. He married Katie McLemore Wiggins on June 9, 1989 in Hillsboro. He worked as a foundation driller for Fred Bandis for many years before becoming self-employed. He has resided in Belton since 1962 and was a member of the Free Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
Otto enjoyed fishing, laughing and traveling. He especially loved to spend time with his family and his beloved dog, Jessie. His laughter and "tell it like it is" way of life will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by a son, Garry Franklin Sanford; a brother, Frank E. Sanford; and 2 sisters, his twin, Jackie Arnold and Lorraine Booth; and a grandson, Bryan McKee.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Sanford of Belton; a son, Curtis Wayne Sanford of Angleton; 2 daughters, Georgia Centers of Belton and Jeanette Schigut of Morgans Point; 3 step daughters, Cindy McKee and Cherie Lara of Belton and Karen Daugherty of Jarrell; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services have been entrusted to Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
