Phyllis Arlene Huey, 90 of Kingwood, Texas, went to her eternal Heavenly home on February 19, 2017. Phyllis was born on May 10, 1926 in Webster, South Dakota to parents Edgar and Mabel Mcfadden. She was the third of four children. She is survived by her loving husband, Garland A. Huey, two sons, Ray Huey and Glen Huey, two daughters, Sheri Turner and Kaye Denzel. She was blessed to have 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. One of Phyllis' first jobs was as a research assistant in her father's lab at Texas A&M University. She was part of the first female group of students enrolled at Texas A & M in the summers of 1943 and 1944. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Education at Southwest Texas. Phyllis worked as a school teacher in Wheelock, Yorktown, Nordheim, Balmorhea, and Baytown, Texas. She served as secretary of the PTA, was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed the Ladies Auxilliary at St. John's United Methodist Church. Her many hobbies included traveling, knitting, embroidering, and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Phyllis had a very loving personality and always had a smile and appreciation for the beauty in the world. Services for Phyllis were held on February 25th at Harper Talesek funeral home in Belton, Texas. Her family will always be reminded of her when seeing the color pink, or purple. When they see a bird, flower, butterfly, or beautiful scenery they will be reminded of how she loved the Lord Jesus Christ and all of God's creation. We will pass her love forward to our own children and always carry her memory in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, cards can be sent to P.O. Box 1749, Splendora, Texas.
