Funeral services for Pauline "Polly" Alford, 95, of Temple will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church in Temple with Derrel Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Ms. Alford passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at her home.
Polly was born on September 12, 1920 in Donie, Texas to the late Ewell Ray and Lisha (Williams) Hall. She graduated from University of Southern Mississippi and received her master's degree from Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Ms. Alford was a school teacher in Shreveport for 30 years before her retirement. She was a member of the AAVW, Alta Delta Kappa and PSI Kappa Kappa Iota. She was an active member of Taylors Valley Baptist Church for many years. Polly married A.J. Alford on April 20, 1941 in Bynum, Texas. He preceded her in death. She had lived in Temple since 1979.
Polly loved her weekly domino game with friends, shopping and keeping up with the latest fashions. She was a gracious host and always looked her best.
Survivors include her niece Wanda Jo Davis of Temple; and several other special family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 brothers, Neyland Hall and Doyle Hall.
The family will receive visitors at the church for 1 hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Building Fund at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church, 6911 Boutwell Dr., Temple, Texas 76502.
Services have been entrusted to Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
