Funeral services for R.L. Copeland, 81, of Salado will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the 3C Cowboy Fellowship in Salado. Burial will follow at Salado Cemetery.
Mr. Copeland passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his home.
He was born on August 15, 1934, in Salado to the late Harvey and Bernice (McQueen) Copeland. He worked for REA Express as a shipping agent for 14 years, the Mobile Station in Salado for many years and he retired from Civil Service. After retirement he was a farmer and rancher. He had various breeds of cattle over the years, but his favorite were jersey cows. He shredded and hauled hay for many in Salado. In the mornings you could find him at the feed store in town drinking coffee with his buddies. He married Lillie Bell Lock on June 4, 1955, in Rogers. R.L. loved to take trips to the mountains with Bell. He was a member of the 3C Cowboy Fellowship in Salado. R. L. truly enjoyed life and especially cherished time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harvey Copeland, Jr., and a sister, Elsie Nell Cromeans.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Bell Copeland of Salado; 2 sons, Richard Copeland of Morgan's Point Resort and Larry Copeland of Salado; 7 grandchildren, Sherry Morgan, Thomas Copeland, Chance Copeland, Cheyenne Holmes, Dakota Copeland, Casey Copeland & Brady Copeland; and 10 great-granddaughters, Micah Morgan, Addison Holmes, Makenzie Copeland, Cassidy Copeland, Mindy Morgan, Yvaine Copeland, Kayleigh Copeland, Emily Morgan, Autumn Holmes and Kaitlyn Copeland.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
