Raymond George Klein Jr., age 78, passed in peace Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, with family by his side. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, February 12, 2022, at North Belton Cemetery.
Raymond was born on February 6, 1943, to Raymond and Beulah Klein in Wilson, North Carolina. He married Mary Rose Sites on July 13, 1963. Raymond was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he earned the Bronze Star for his brave service in Vietnam. Known affectionately as ‘Tinker’ for his love of tinkering with this and that, he was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved and was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to rock hunt and make beautiful jewelry from his finds, treasure hunt with his trusty metal detector, paint, and bake, especially cookies. One of his other favorite things to do was to sit and enjoy a great cup of coffee and conversation; he loved to talk to people. Raymond (Tinker) loved dogs and always had one by his side. He was a strong man with a big heart, was loved by many, and will be greatly missed. Not a birthday went by that he didn’t belt out a happy birthday song – we will miss his songs, as he’s now singing in Heaven.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond George Klein Sr., and Beulah Lorraine Klein.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Klein; daughters, Teresa McElvaney, Mary Ann Huckabee, and Lisa Murphy; sons-in-law, Michael Huckabee, and James Murphy; sister, Anne Klein King; grandchildren, Ashley Kirby, Katelin Huckabee, Wesley Byrd, Brittney McElvaney, Kelly Huckabee, Justin Byrd, and Brandon Huckabee; and great grandchildren, Kaleb Kirby, and Logan Kirby.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are made in Raymond’s name to the Dementia Society of America by mail to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901, or online www.DementiaSociety.org/donate or to the Humane Society of Central Texas online www.humanesocietycentraltexas.org/donate.
