Robert “Bob” Earl Burns, age 89 of Temple, passed from this life Friday, March 3, 2023, at Cornerstone Gardens Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Temple. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Waco Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow.

Bob was born on September 6, 1933, to Henry Amos & Edna Burns in Cleburne, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and was a member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University, Class of 1955. After college, Bob was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves. He went on to work for Texas Power & Light for 36 years. Bob spent time in Victor, Colorado where he took pride in running the "Rooster Crows", a local grocery store, before moving on to Argonia, Kansas with former wife, Steele Eagle Destiny until her passing. He met and married Sherry (Thompson) Burns a little over 10 years ago and moved to Fairfield, Texas. Bob and Sherry then moved to the Belton/Temple area where he spent the last three years. He loved classic cars, especially Fords, and was a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club. Bob was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and an even bigger Aggie supporter, and he attended as many Aggie Musters as he could.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Burns.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Sherry (Thompson) Burns; sister, Cynthia (and Henry) Hazard, Panama City, FL; daughter, Kathryn Burns Monette, Grand Prairie, TX; sons, Mike (and Lanette) Burns, Fairfield, TX, Richard (and Connie) Burns, Belton, TX, and Jeff (and Dawn) Burns, Richardson, TX; nine grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or America Heart Association.
