Roy Charles Hughling, 86, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, October 26,2013, passing away peacefully at his home in Belton. Roy was born in Bruceville, Texas to Christopher Columbus Lum Sarah Elizabeth Cluck Hughling March 12,1927.
Family visitation will be from 6:008:00 p.m. at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton on Thursday,
October 31, 2013. A celebration of Roys life will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Heartfield Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 1, 2013 with burial to follow at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Salado.
Roy married Darlyne Dee Williams and they had five daughters. He was a World War II Veteran. Roy was a successful business owner as a commercial tile contractor working all over Texas and around the nation. At one time, he owned a small cattle business. He lived in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and Georgetown, retiring in Belton.
Roy will be remembered as a talented musician, specializing in guitar, having instilled his love for music to others, leaving a legacy of his love. He treasured times singing and playing the guitar at church, gospel, and family gatherings. In his life, Roy enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing, and flying as a recreational pilot. His friendliness and kind smile will be greatly missed. He attended Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Belton.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Christopher Columbus, Jr., Billy Ray, and Leonard Jackson Hughling, the mother of his children, Darlyne and his grandsons, Travis Colby Love and Jeffrey Davis Love.
Roy is survived by his five daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Paul Gray, Linda and Roger Love, Susan and Loren Friesenhahn, Roye Nell and Kenneth Love, and Lisa and Michael Baggerly, 17 grandchildren, 32 greatgrandchildren, 2 greatgreat grandchildren.
