Graveside services for Thomas Burress, 84, of Moody will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Lawler Cemetery in Florence. Pastor Ridge Adams and Pastor Larry Henry will be officiating.
Mr. Burress passed away April 23 at a local hospital.
Thomas was born in Houston on September 24, 1930 to the late Milford and Cathy (Stovall) Burress. He graduated from Liberty Hill High School. Thomas married Shirley McLeod on February 9, 1953 in Liberty Hill. Thomas served our country with the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954, during which he fought in the Korean War. When he left the Marine Corps he became a lifelong farmer and rancher. Thomas was a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church in Moody.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Milford S. Burress and Boyce E. Burress; 1 sister, Cathy Mae Lewis; and a grandson, Brandon Harding.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Burress of Moody; 3 daughters, Camille Harding of Round Rock, Cindy Davis and Carye Sue Reeder both of Moody; 2 sons, Kent Burress of Austin and Jeff Burress of Lampasas; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
There will be a visitation and viewing at Lawler Cemetery starting at 2:30 pm on Saturday.
