Funeral services for Velma Butler Blankenship, 92, of Belton will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Haper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton with Mike Baggerly officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery.
She passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at a local long term facility in Temple, Texas.
She was born on June 18, 1924 in Waco to Wyite and Emma Drake Butler. She met and married Lawrence Sewell Blankenship on June 20, 1942 in Bell County. She was a homemaker and longtime resident of Belton, Texas. She was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Belton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Brooksie Nell Youngs, and six sisters.
Survivors include her son, William L. Blankenship and his wife Karen of Temple; her brother, Wyite Butler and his wife Dorothy of Belton. She had two grandsons, Eric and Nathan Blankenship and their wives, and one granddaughter, Shatana Michelle Young and her husband. She had six great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the funeral home.
