Wallie Lee Schiller passed away January 22, 2017 in Temple, Texas. He was born December 2, 1934 to Joseph Leon Schiller and Alma Ella (Stamman) Schiller in Westphalia, Texas, he was an only child. He graduated from Belton High School in 1952. He grew up in the Belton, Tennessee Valley and surrounding area.
Wallie worked in construction as a superintendent or in quality control on Fort Hood. He traveled to other cities and states also and built malls. He retired in 2010, after building the Gatesville mini mall and a mall in New Orleans, La. He also worked for various contractors including Cloud Construction, M.W. Builders, Jimmy Taylor with Ace Inc. and CSS Construction.
Wallie was a member of Eagle Springs Baptist Church.
He moved to Cameron, Texas on January 23, 2016 to be near family.
Wallie was a rodeo man in his youth. He also loved to hunt and fish. He was a winner of many dance contests (polka and waltz) with his wife Mae. He met Mae Schiller at Texas Bank in Temple. They were married in Temple on September 24, 1971.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years; 3 sons and their wives, Steve and Judy of Troy, Darryl and Teri of Belton, Darren and Shannon of Belton; 2 daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Calvin Schoonover of Bryan and Helen and Ronnie Marshall of Moody. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and many extended family members. Wallie was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Lee; one son Gary Dean Schiller and his mother-in-law Alma Holland.
A memorial service for Wallie will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton with Pastor Michael Vance officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
