Aurea “Christine” Eagan, age 62 of Temple, passed from this life Monday, January 30, 2023, at home. Services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton, with a visitation starting at 11 am, followed by a memorial service at 1 pm.

Aurea was born on August 29, 1960, to Kenneth Horton and Angelita Corpuz Reyes in Manila, Philippines. She was a lady that wore many hats, but the ones of being a mother and Mimi, she loved the most. She had a very personal relationship with God, and she relied heavily on her faith to see her through many of her life’s challenges. Aurea enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, gardening, playing poker, and spending time with her family. She worked as a cosmetologist, and she worked endlessly to provide for her girls while raising them. She was a very loving and caring mother who had a heart for those less fortunate.

Aurea is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Horton.

Survivors include her mother, Angelita Corpuz Reyes; daughters, Chasity Flores, Amy Smith, Tara Moore, Jennifer Cotter, Angela Peters, and Alaura Eagan; brother, Jeff Horton; sisters, Teresa Horton, and Beth Horton; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Starr, Blake Miller, Katona Miller, Kamie Moore, Josiah Matamoros, Quinton Strickland, and Leah Clements; and 1 great grandchild, John-Luke Starr.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to late Uncle Dale for being her best friend and loving her the way she deserved to be loved, and to Mike Dolphin, who was a great friend who spent time with her and helped get her to doctor appointments.
