Gregory Jay Duty, age 57 of Belton, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021. Private family burial of his ashes will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple at a later date.

Greg was born on April 23, 1964 to Ottis J. Duty and Lynne B. Broadbeck in Santa Monica, California. He served in the Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. Handling onboard the USS Constellation. Greg joined the Navy following in the footsteps of his uncles. Greg loved playing the keyboards and played in several local bands in the Temple area.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Ottis J. Duty and Lynne B. Broadbeck; and sister, Theresa R. Duty.

He is survived by his sister, Sondra K. Andrews (Cabot, AR); 3 nephews, Jad Dowdy (Fairfield Bay, AR), Tsgt Caleb Shackelford (currently stationed in the Middle East), and Jordan Shackelford (Colorado Springs, CO); niece, Jayme Adcock (Mobile, AL); numerous cousins of the Duty and Gillmeister families; his musician family and bandmates; and furchild, Raider.

Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of arrangements.
