John Richard Weaver, age 79 of Belton, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas after a long battle with an illness. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10 am at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 5-7 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton. A gathering with family and friends will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday, before the visitation, at Ave T Church of Christ in Temple.
John was born on January 9, 1942 in Tulare, California to John W. and Margaret Weaver. He joined the United States Army after graduation from high school and served many years. After leaving the Army, he drove a truck for O’Dell Gear. John attended church at Avenue T Church of Christ in Temple. He enjoyed camping, fishing, football, fried chicken and going to Sol de Jalisco on Main Street in Belton.
John was preceded in death by both his parents, John W. and Margaret Weaver; his partner, Dorothy Kelley; and grandsons, Daniel Pruitt Jr and Andy Kelley.
John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Richard Harrison; his sons and daughters-in-law, George and Barbara Kelley, and Dale Sr and Teresa Kelley; sons, Gale Kelley Sr and Larry Kelley; grandchildren, Raydean and Bob Golding, Floyd Pruitt, Tommy Pruitt, James Harrison, Natalie Renner-Pruitt, and Michael Kelly; great grandchildren, Bobby Golding, Billy Golding, Cody Pruitt, Mason Pruitt, Hunter Pruitt, Amber Dillman and Bradley Renner, and great great grandchildren, Brandon Dillman and Jaylynn Kelley.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and by his wonderful neighbors.
