Juan Gonzales

May 23, 1928 — February 19, 2019

Juan C. Gonzales, 90, of Belton, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 26 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple, 2807 Oakdale Drive. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

Juan was born May 23, 1928 to Vicente Gonzales and Paula Cerna in Pawnee, Texas. A long time truck driver, Juan deeply enjoyed driving for a living and providing for his family. In his free time, he spent as much time with family and friends, Bar-B-Qing, attending games and events for his children and grandchildren, and shopping at the local flea markets on Sundays. He also played bingo, enjoyed dancing, family picnics and visiting his sisters. Juan could also often be found under the hood of a Chevy 350 or working on a Pontiac. To relax from the hustle of his busy, blessed and full life, he would sometimes make it out to go fishing and enjoy taking the time to just slowdown. Juan was a devoted Beltonian and loved attending hometown events such as the 4th of July Parade in Downtown Belton. Juan was a good man with a kind heart, whose most prized possession was his beloved family. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lauro Gonzales; and sisters, Elojia and Elicia Gonzales.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his children, Amanda Garcia, Herminia (Minnie) Ramirez, Sylvia Rodriguez, Maria Crestina Pompa, David Gonzales, Melissa Ledesma, George Gonzales and Juan Cerna Gonzales II; sisters, Virginia Heritage, Louisa Salas, Udencia Villarreal and Lina Shelton; brother, Faustino Gonzales; 25 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held Monday, February 25 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Belton, 503 N. Main St., from 5 to 7 pm with the Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm.
