Nelda "Gogo" Pechal

Nelda “GoGo” Ruth Pechal, age 92 of Belton, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at a local care facility. A Celebration of her Life will take place Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton, with a visitation starting at 10 am and services beginning at 11 am. Burial will be in North Belton Cemetery.

Nelda was born on June 30, 1929, to Frank Earl and Hattie Annie Fielding in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Belton High School. Nelda married Johnnie Lee Pechal and they shared 63 years of marriage together. She was the Director of Personnel at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the Chief Clerk for the Department of Agriculture. She enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband. She was a member of First Baptist Church, having been saved by her Lord and Savior at the age of 9. She was a spiritual leader to others and loved to share Jesus with those she met throughout her life. She considered her family to be her greatest gift from God. She was proud of her family and cared for them dearly. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Nelda is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hattie Fielding; husband, Johnnie Pechal; brothers, Earl Fielding, Pete Fielding, and Arlie Fielding; and her sister, Frankie Hutka.

Those left to honor and cherish her memories are her son, Johnnie Frank Pechal and wife, Stephanie; daughter, Janna Pechal Herzer and husband, Don; grandchildren, Courtney Ratcliff and husband, Sam, Joseph Herzer, and Cary Herzer and wife, Tammi; great grandchildren, Piper Ratcliff, K-Ci Herzer, and Kamri Irvin; and great great grandchildren, Josiah Irvin, Mari Herzer, and Ezra Herzer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “Friends of the Belton Public Library” at 301 East 1st Avenue, P.O. Box 120, Belton, TX 76513 or to any charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Beth Scott and the hospice care she gave Nelda, and to Mandy Worthington and the staff of Brookdale Senior Living at Western Hills in Temple.
