Dominic and his wife, Lori, are the owners of Harper Talasek Funeral Homes in Temple, Belton, and Killeen. They purchased the funeral homes in October 2025 and returned the longstanding funeral homes to independent, family ownership.
Originally from East Texas, Dominic was introduced to funeral service through a family friend, which ultimately led him to pursue a career dedicated to caring for families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Dominic works as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer and is an alum of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is continuing his education by pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration. Dominic has received the Certified Funeral Service Practitioner designation from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.
Dominic is passionate about the education and development of the next generation of funeral service professionals and serves as a remote professor of mortuary science with Pierce Colleges in Dallas, Indiana, and Georgia, sharing his professional experience with students preparing to enter the profession.
Outside of funeral service, Dominic enjoys spending time with Lori, their daughter, Elara, and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Lumi. He also enjoys spending time playing music as a professional musician, visiting local breweries, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Together, Dominic and the Harper Talasek Funeral Home family are committed to honoring the heritage of the Harper, Talasek, and Heartfield families in serving Central Texas with respect, honor, and excellence.
Lori and her husband Dominic are the owners of Harper Talasek Funeral Homes. While her introduction to funeral service came with Dominic’s career and his passion for serving families, Lori was already in her career as a Medicolegal Death Investigator when she and Dominic met.
Originally from Japan, Lori has called Central Texas home for the past few years. Japanese culture plays a significant role in the Takahashi-Holsome household.
Lori and Dominic are proud parents to their daughter, Elara, and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Lumi. Outside of the funeral home, Lori enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, shopping, visiting wineries, camping, hiking, and anything involving animals.
